IVF Support

A recent report from the British Medical Journal has shown that there is an increase in the pregnancy rates of women who use acupuncture alongside IVF from 30% to 60%! And this only concerns two sessions: pre & post embryo transfer. If you add some herbs, vitamins, a balancing treatment during the entire IVF cycle and a treatment to maintain pregnancy after the embryo transfer, you are giving yourself an even greater chance that your cycle is successful.
During the IVF cycle a lot of women experience side effects from hormone injections (bloating, headaches, fuzzy head, emotional ups & downs, etc.) Acupuncture can help reduce these side effects and make you feel better.
After the embryo transfer specific herbs and acupuncture can help with the implantation and prevent miscarriage.

The IVF Treatment Protocol

Fresh Cycle ~ fresh eggs are retrieved, fertilized and then transferred
  1. During the IVF cycle: weekly acupuncture and herbs if necessary to help reduce the side effects and balance the body.
  2. Pre-egg collection Phase: 1 session between 1 and 3 days before retrieval to work on egg quality and quantity and thickening the uterine lining.
  3. Pre-Transfer Phase: preferably 1 day prior to embryo transfer to increase blood flow into the uterine lining to help the embryo implant.
  4. Post-Transfer Phase: preferably on the day of transfer or 1 day after transfer to help with implantation. Special Chinese herbs are given after transfer and should be continued up to 12 weeks should the transfer be successful. This is to help with preventing miscarriage and assists implantation.
  5. Regular Acupuncture: weekly or fortnightly acupuncture to promote a full term.
Frozen Cycle ~ frozen eggs are thawed and viable ones transferred
  1. Pre-egg collection Phase: 1 session between 1 and 3 days before retrieval to work on egg quality and quantity and thickening of the uterine lining.
  2. Pre-Transfer Phase: preferably 1 day prior to embryo transfer to increase blood flow into the uterine lining to help the embryo implant.
  3. Post-Transfer Phase: preferably on the day of transfer or 1 day after transfer to help with implantation. Special Chinese herbs are given after transfer and should be continued up to 12 weeks should the transfer be successful. This is to help with preventing miscarriage and assists implantation.
Pregnancy

Once a successful pregnancy is confirmed it is very important to maintain regular treatment of acupuncture, herbs and supplements, to prevent miscarriage and to help with implantation. After the first 12 weeks treatments are only necessary if you have a problem until 37 weeks, when I can offer a 4 week labour preparation program.
